Google Big-Bang Theory (Personal Speculation)
Now that I think of it, here’s a scenario of previous Google holocaust:
>Google sacrifice little advertisers (which won’t affect their stock prices) and let the big names and first hand companies to advertise and build their brand awareness, because they think it would be too hard to change ‘old’ advertisers mindsets that already had in their mind on how things work, and it will take a long time to educate the advertisers that grew with them about the whole new game they’re plottng on.
>Combined with new ‘personalised search result’ for their users (which killing SEOs also), they’re basically trying to ‘improve’ (at some point) their user’s experience to the top, delivering a more significant difference in results than other search engines.
>As the result, more people will start using Google more and more compared to other search engines (Google hope and calculate so), because Google give them what they ‘like’ to see (not what they ‘need’ to see. yes including some results that they don’t want to see). So Google is trying to ‘niched out’ the whole results to what their users would like to distinct their SE from others.
>With the most largest portion of market on the planet in their hand, there would be always more and more advertisers who want to advertise on Google by any means and just follow what Google wants
>This then give Google even more control and power to ‘dictate’ the market to what they ‘think’ their users should like, AND their advertisers at the same time.
>What Google really doing is basically separate out the market matrix by weeding out the blackhats and at the same time letting the smaller advertisers and business owners to dominate other search engines, and they (maybe) hope that these ‘minorities’ will ‘litter’ the other search engines results even more, and left out the ‘clean’ results for their users.
If this is succesfully implemented, they would dominate the whole game for a long time.
Overall, this is a great move just like when you’re playing chess. Because what you’re focusing on is winning and dominating the market. What it lacks are ethics and self-control to play god in their own totalitarian world. Similar to dictatorship on communism. A whole different approach from democracy. A complete disrespect of liberalism and variety.
But for how far? who knows… Well, Google knows. They think their ‘robots’ know that it wouldn’t be getting out of hand.
Here’s how it would turn to the doom for Google if not well planned:
>The creativity, variety, and liberalism would be left to the crowd and of course the ‘litters’ would dominate other search engines
>The other search engines (if no radical move implemented also) WILL become the second Google and would take the position of the old Google just like the old days.
>The more mature and stabil system would become the part of other search engines (particularly Bing and Yahoo), left alone Google’s newly developed utopia.
>The whole market which is the search engine users around the world would seperate into two ‘blocks’ where huge part would be educated to use Google’s ‘pre-mature’ algorithm while the other one would be using more ‘mature’ system offered by search engines other than Google
>The ’separated’ market of search engine users would then try to ‘distribute’ themselves to use both kind of search engines because they try to get different kind of results.
>Google might be risk to lose up to half its users because the users will now sub-conciously learn to use both kind of search engines at the same time.
>Combined with the creativity of crowd (in this matter the advertisers and small business owners), the anti-trust of Google, and the new more stabil environment built by other search engines, both parties (internet users and small business owners/advertisers) will turn to search engines that can understand what they need, what they want, and of course, tolerate their ‘dark side’.
>The whole downward spiral will then find its path, and…. Big Bang! The world (search market) once again, clustered. just like nations these days. No more world dominator.
Culture and society always lured into dictatorship utopia first, a total control, until they realize that they can’t handle themselves anymore. that people always need to be ‘directed’ to self-governed all the time.
If these all really happen, here’s the lesson. This all happened because Google choose to close their eyes and turn their face over the ‘minority’ (it’s advertisers and publishers), and just deliver unbalanced and unconditional support to their free users. They even speculate the whole thing (what they think their users should like and their advertisers shouldn’t do) using their robots.
Blow it larger, larger, and larger, and it eventually WILL burst. I think sometimes people should learn from history. A history of finance maybe?
