Now that I think of it, here’s a scenario of previous Google holocaust:

>Google sacrifice little advertisers (which won’t affect their stock prices) and let the big names and first hand companies to advertise and build their brand awareness, because they think it would be too hard to change ‘old’ advertisers mindsets that already had in their mind on how things work, and it will take a long time to educate the advertisers that grew with them about the whole new game they’re plottng on.

>Combined with new ‘personalised search result’ for their users (which killing SEOs also), they’re basically trying to ‘improve’ (at some point) their user’s experience to the top, delivering a more significant difference in results than other search engines.

>As the result, more people will start using Google more and more compared to other search engines (Google hope and calculate so), because Google give them what they ‘like’ to see (not what they ‘need’ to see. yes including some results that they don’t want to see). So Google is trying to ‘niched out’ the whole results to what their users would like to distinct their SE from others.

>With the most largest portion of market on the planet in their hand, there would be always more and more advertisers who want to advertise on Google by any means and just follow what Google wants

>This then give Google even more control and power to ‘dictate’ the market to what they ‘think’ their users should like, AND their advertisers at the same time.

>What Google really doing is basically separate out the market matrix by weeding out the blackhats and at the same time letting the smaller advertisers and business owners to dominate other search engines, and they (maybe) hope that these ‘minorities’ will ‘litter’ the other search engines results even more, and left out the ‘clean’ results for their users.

If this is succesfully implemented, they would dominate the whole game for a long time.

Overall, this is a great move just like when you’re playing chess. Because what you’re focusing on is winning and dominating the market. What it lacks are ethics and self-control to play god in their own totalitarian world. Similar to dictatorship on communism. A whole different approach from democracy. A complete disrespect of liberalism and variety.

But for how far? who knows… Well, Google knows. They think their ‘robots’ know that it wouldn’t be getting out of hand.

Here’s how it would turn to the doom for Google if not well planned:
>The creativity, variety, and liberalism would be left to the crowd and of course the ‘litters’ would dominate other search engines

>The other search engines (if no radical move implemented also) WILL become the second Google and would take the position of the old Google just like the old days.

>The more mature and stabil system would become the part of other search engines (particularly Bing and Yahoo), left alone Google’s newly developed utopia.

>The whole market which is the search engine users around the world would seperate into two ‘blocks’ where huge part would be educated to use Google’s ‘pre-mature’ algorithm while the other one would be using more ‘mature’ system offered by search engines other than Google

>The ’separated’ market of search engine users would then try to ‘distribute’ themselves to use both kind of search engines because they try to get different kind of results.

>Google might be risk to lose up to half its users because the users will now sub-conciously learn to use both kind of search engines at the same time.

>Combined with the creativity of crowd (in this matter the advertisers and small business owners), the anti-trust of Google, and the new more stabil environment built by other search engines, both parties (internet users and small business owners/advertisers) will turn to search engines that can understand what they need, what they want, and of course, tolerate their ‘dark side’.

>The whole downward spiral will then find its path, and…. Big Bang! The world (search market) once again, clustered. just like nations these days. No more world dominator.

Culture and society always lured into dictatorship utopia first, a total control, until they realize that they can’t handle themselves anymore. that people always need to be ‘directed’ to self-governed all the time.

If these all really happen, here’s the lesson. This all happened because Google choose to close their eyes and turn their face over the ‘minority’ (it’s advertisers and publishers), and just deliver unbalanced and unconditional support to their free users. They even speculate the whole thing (what they think their users should like and their advertisers shouldn’t do) using their robots.

Blow it larger, larger, and larger, and it eventually WILL burst. I think sometimes people should learn from history. A history of finance maybe?

So far, we’ve seen Google killing basically everyone who make them big.

They’ve been killing affiliate marketers by banning redirected, cloacked, framed and even single page websites, and they’ve been killing email marketers by banning websites that have opt-in page in it as ‘low quality’ landing page.

They’ve been killing Adwords users since 3 months ago which peaked in these 3 days, and they’ve been killing SEOers (yes they affected too) by implementing their new toys.

Adsense users by far still don’t get any significant trouble yet. At least no mass banning. The problem is, many honest advertisers on Adwords get busted permanently for no reason, and this will affect Adsense users’ income one or another way since good paying ads are disappearing.

Here’s the question, are these holocausts really bring any good to internet users? Would this kill spammers, scammers, and black hatters even more as G wished for and ‘calculated’ on? I personally don’t think so…

G know that if they strive to keep their users pleased, they would eventually dominate the search industry. At least they hope and ‘calculate’ so. But they seems to forgot that they also need to help both side which is their advertisers to create the synergy.

Instead of helping them to improve anything, G slaughtered them with no warning, no demand, and no second chance. The most heartless action was that all this was executed by their ’secret robots’ that can’t even judge good people from bad people.

This unacceptable and very unprofessional way to solve a problem surely get many radical responses from many people who’ve affected the most. Google has sold their most loyal customers out.

Soon, G users would experience much improved search results. Because they’re all ruled by G’s robots to please their eyes. But what really missed out are great websites that has great content and offers, just because G bots think their users wouldn’t like them. What they’re really doing is trying to kill creativity and ‘diversity’ as mentioned in SE Land.

Yahoo – Microsoft

Meanwhile, the advertisers, the small business owners, and the publishers will focus their attention, time, energy and money on more stabilized systems offered by other search engines. This will affect users and eventually will trigger a huge movement on the face of internet searching experience by anyone in the world, one way or another.

This moment can’t be better for these two smaller giants. They just form an alliance on the searh industry. It’s not clear yet what kind of partnership they would have, but clearly this is the right moment to win the heart of those honest people who had get slaughtered by Google.

Advertisers would spend much more money than ever which resulting in more ads and improvement of user experience on other SEs, SEOers will focusing on establishing a long term high rank positions on other search engine, resulting in more and more quality content and revenue, and many more.

It’s still too soon to tell who will win the battle. Change vs status quo, trend creator vs trend follower, robots vs human.

All this makes me thinking: has G give enough time for users, their ‘affiliates’ and customers, and everybody else to get used to the change? Is Google moving and changing too fast that no one left can catch them? Will this be the worst mistake Google done to everyone else including themselves?

Yes that’s what people has fired up on this December.

You can follow the discussions at:

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdWords/thread?tid=10f6e7de98b00eac&hl=en

Here’s my comment (I’m ‘caleido’ there)——————————————————-

Just got my account banned yesterday. Here I am whining…

Google’s Violations (of business ethics):
1. They don’t talk (no spesific explanation ever be made on any accusations)
2. They don’t write (not even single spesific explanation of what they want. just kick everyone out. yeah their “robots” do writes and doing the customer (dis)service! what a technology. I remember the story when terrorists put up a demand, and keep blowing everything off.)
3. They don’t read (their customers story and emails, and so many complaints on various forums)
4. They don’t hear (what you’re saying. you will keep redirected to their shiny guidelines and policy which everybody understands clearly but their robots. Well, no wonder since they put robots to listen and judge what we humans are saying)
5. They don’t review (how could they review if they don’t even acknowledge that there’s A problem.)
6. They are “not responding” to anything (typical attitude of company full of smartest ‘technicians’)
7. They are experimenting their toys with people’s businesses, and they put another toy to handle their frustations instead of put a close attention (using real humans) of what might gone wrong.
7. They created an affiliate network themselves, and they prohibit people from using PPC (yes. you’re not safe even if you’re promoting their programs. At least I was not.)
8. They keep talking about improving service to their user. But they’re giving them fewer options and cloudy results by improving their disservice to their affiliates (yes we were Google’s affiliates). Soon, advertisers will put their eggs in other PPC networks, and will help users that using other search engines to pinpoint what they want.
9. They rank you for the #1 in organic listing, but they’re saying your website stinks and is ‘offending’ to their users.
10. They accuse wrong good people by painting their white hats with black toxic image of what they ‘think’ a website shouldn’t look like.
11. They have no respect to conservative marketers that have learned marketing by list building and using middlemen (affiliates) to penetrate a market, by trying to kill affiliate marketing and email marketing instead of rule them out in certain way.
12. They ban people PERMANENTLY. With no second chance for explanation nor mercy. No matter if you think how clean you are. What their algorithm ‘think’ is what matters. (I don’t know about class action suit things, but I’m sure if the court suddenly shut G off without warning and reasons, they WOULD p*ssed off. In the end they’re not different than any of us).

Our Violation:
1. Put everything including our trust (because their service were so trustworthy) in Adwords.

Yes things will turn very quick if Google doesn’t respond to anything.
If Google turn their face on everyone this quick, they will see how fast people will turn their face against them.
They’ve built trust over a decade. And they’re selling out those trusts most people have put in just months.

If you haven’t got banned yet, don’t ever hold a party. I know some people would. I was. But sooner or later, with G’s new ‘clever robots’ keep around, you WILL ‘violate’ one or more of their only-robots-will-know rules. Even if you don’t do anything to your account, it just a matter of time before you completely out of the game for your life without you even know why.
This is not a nightmare. this is worst than that. This is reality.

Keeping their new bad robot puppies, and their “not responding” attitude will turn people’s trust into anger and sentiments faster than they think.
Yeah… I never believe computers can compute collaterals…if they can, the world would already has a future prediction broadcast so accurately that everyone would be safe already. no more worries for the future.
O’ naive humans…that’s God’s play.

Disclaimer: I’m not accusing staffs as robots. I’m not accusing as technicians doing all this. I’m not accusing everyone who using Adwords as white hatted.

Privacy Policy: None. What’s the point of privacy policy if no one should capture any name or emails. What’s the point of the optin forms if not in the first page that visitors see. They have only 4 seconds to read all the page no matter how fancy it is.

We have heard the terms Macroeconomy and Microeconomy in economic world.

Based on Wikipedia, macroeconomy is a branch of economics that deals with the performance, structure, and behavior of a national or regional economy as a whole. Macroeconomist study things like GDP, unemployment rates, and price indices to understand how the whole economy function within and between nations.

Microeconomy in the other hand, learn about the interaction between producers, distributors and customers. They learn about how goods and money being distributed, about supply and demand.

“Macro Research” – “Micro Research”

In the market research world, there’re also two kinds of research needed to be conducted. Macro and micro research.

Macro research is doing research about current and upcoming trends based on This works horizontally based on global demand factor and work vertically over certain timeframe inbetween trends. This is about doing research BETWEEN existing markets.

Micro research in the other hand, is about doing research “locally” or get into details of certain keywords (in terms of online research), doing small surveys and polls WITHIN a market or even a niche market.

Just like in trading world, we need both of them when it comes to building a long term online or even offline business. It’s easier of course, doing it online. We can do “macro research” by aggregating some informations about certain market from many news sites, trend sites, blogosphere, etc.

Some of the best sites for this that I know so far are:

- Google Trends

- Google Insights

- Trendsspotting (RSSed at left menu of this website)

- Techcrunch (a technology blog), etc.

For micro research though, there’re certain websites you can use, like:

-Yahoo and Google Groups and Answer

- Forums

- survey sites

- put polls at your website,

- Keyword Tools like Wordtracker and the one I’ve posted earlier, Google’s free KeywordTool (Adwords account needed), etc.

I hope you got the point. So in order to start building a business, it’s very crucial to do the research. The longer the research you conduct, the better your business will be able to position itself in this whole new game. We’ve heard that most of successful businesses are those that come at the right place, at the right time.

How can they do that? Are they just jump into their market by accident or coincidentally? Well… most of them didn’t. Amazon.com took 7 years preparing their business. How long would you?

There’re a bunch of Market research tools on the internet. If you’ve been sometime into SEM (Search Engine Marketing),
particularly PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Advert in online marketing, you must have seen so many tools and services created and developed for doing market research through keyword research aside from online surveys and polls.

Some of them are great tools that connected to an online web-service backend, some of them are just simple tools with fancy GUI, and some even just a simple tool with simple GUI created to do certain things.
Some are free, but many great others are paid ones.

But still, when it comes to PPC, keyword research is the core work that you have to do yourself because how well you do your homework will determine how well your PPC campaign will do.

This particular tool that I stumbled upon and about to introduce as one of the best PPC research tools, is no different. It has paid package also, but only has difference in some optional features for advanced marketers and PPC veterans. If you’re a startup and just want to do simple competitor research, you can use the free version of the software. Always try first and then decide whether you like it or not.

The tool called PPCWebSpy, and it created by Brad Callen, a well known figure in internet marketing world.

So what this tool can actually do for you? You can read how it works at it’s official website, but here’s a glance:

This tool is not a standalone software that you can run on your computer. It’s a plugin/addon that integrates with your browser. So after installing and activating it, everytime for example you search using Google, there’ll be an additional button below every sponsored search result called “View Keywords”.

When you clicked it, it’ll show you up a pop up window that lists keywords of the ads that being used by the advertiser. On the window, you can see immediately the bid position of the keywords, the Average CPC (Cost-Per-Click), the maximum CPC, the number of clicks per day, and the cost per day. You’ll get everything you need at a single click.

You can even click at the keyword and see what the ads the advertiser put the particular keyword on looked like. In short, you can see transparently the competitor’s campaign.

If by any chance you’d like to visit the URL of one of those ads without being tracked by the advertiser, you can also choose to show the target URLs of those ads. This option would then show up the target URL under the ads.

So by using this, you can literally spy on other advertisers on the same keyword you’re choosing. By knowing what keywords your competitor using will give you a really big advantage.

You can use the same keywords as the highest converting ads use. The indicator of high converting ads is that the ads would keep showing up on the search result from time to time, at least months. Why? because if it’s not converting, the advertiser would not keep running it.

On the other hand, by knowing the competitor’s keywords, you can also decide not to use those keywords, and instead, using other similar or related keywords than your competitor use. It would also give a glimpse of certain keywords that most of the competitors use at the same market. So, it’ll really give you a lot of insights just by installing this great tool.

As for me, there’re some factors that this particular software has that make it a winner compared to other tools.

- It was created with online marketers in mind

- It was created by a veteran online marketer that really know what he’s doing

- It has online community as support that will sound what features they need and what things needed to be improved

- It integrates with Google’s search result

- This tool is a killer research tool that at the same time act as a product itself

- The paid version is one time fee package

- It’s viral! If you know what it means, that’s just….great

Most of the advantages above are spesific, and you simply won’t find it anywhere else.

So, if you’re doing PPC advertising and just want to take your campaign to the next level and stop wasting money on ads that are not converting, this is a must tool. Using this means you’ve saved up a sum of money to buy different tools and services. Missing this means you’ve missed one of the best PPC tools on the net.

You can download and use it for free. And if you really like it, you can upgrade it anytime just for one time fee depends on your needs.
